Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise Supports Motiview at Opal Bairnsdale
The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise is proud to fully fund the first year’s subscription for Motiview at Opal, Bairnsdale, bringing a unique and engaging program to the facility’s residents. Motiview is a video library that helps seniors, particularly those with dementia, reconnect with memories while cycling through virtual scenic routes from around the world.
Residents can pedal on specially designed devices while exploring local and international cycling routes, accompanied by authentic sounds and scenery. The program encourages fitness, stimulates both physical and cognitive abilities, and fosters social interaction among residents. It also offers significant benefits for seniors, reducing stress, anxiety, and the risk of falls, while enhancing mobility and independence.
Motiview's positive impact extends beyond the residents themselves. Staff worldwide report that it reduces their workload while allowing them to provide a higher level of care. In October, Motiview participants will also have the chance to join “Road Worlds for Seniors,” an indoor cycling championship for seniors and those living with dementia, promoting community engagement and creating a fun, inclusive experience for Opal’s residents, families, and volunteers.
While the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise will fund the subscription, Opal welcomes community support to help fund additional cycling devices and participate in this meaningful initiative. Volunteers from the Rotary Club will assist in getting Motiview up and running, ensuring a successful launch of this wonderful program.
