One of our major projects this year is to raise money for a SkyHydrant in a developing country.
It’s a given that every child deserves to have clean water, free of disease.  But, in the world today, around 4000 children die EVERY DAY from preventable waterborne diseases – cholera, typhoid, amoebic dysentery and so on.

Bairnsdale Sunrise has committed to raising $5000 this year, and this will allow Disaster Aid Australia to install a SkyHydrant in a third world country.  This doesn’t supply water, but it cleans the available water, giving a village of 500 or more people, or maybe a school or hospital clean, safe water for at least 10 years.  It works out at $1 per year per person – what a bargain, and what a result!

Disaster Aid is an Australian Rotary organization, which sends volunteers to disasters in developing countries (Smart Aid) and has a dream to supply Safe Water for Every Child.
