Warrigunya Grand Opening: A New Chapter for Community Reintegration

The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise joined Lakes Entrance Baptist Church and other community supporters to celebrate the grand opening of Warrigunya on February 7. Located on 20 acres in Darriman, Gippsland, Warrigunya offers safe, supported accommodation for Aboriginal men transitioning from prison. The centre features self-contained units, a common room, kitchen, and workshop, providing a culturally safe environment where men can focus on personal growth and reducing the risk of reoffending. Co-director Uncle Alan Coe emphasized the hope and future this facility brings. Supported by government grants, service clubs, and volunteers, the centre's not-for-profit model relies on ongoing community backing for its continued success.
